Thanks to the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau, March is “Girlfriends Getaway Month,” with budget-friendly discounts and promotions a-plenty geared to women.
The month-long event is designed to help girlfriends relax, reconnect and enjoy the splendors of Sonoma Valley. An intended and hoped-for consequence is that women who live elsewhere will grab their BFF (best friend forever)—or mom, daughter, sister, and/or any great gal-pal—and come for a visit. Once here and nestled into a fine wine-country accommodation, gals can luxuriate in a spa, hike up a mountain, sample fabulous wine, tour an historic home, dine out in style, and browse boutiques and galleries.
The lucky women who live in Sonoma Valley have the extraordinary benefit of picking and choosing from the many value options the month holds. Girlfriends Getaway Month is crammed with so many discount offers and special events that it takes five pages in small type to list them all, so you’re bound to find something that appeals to you (download the (Girlfriends Guide and the Girlfriends Getaway Map).
For example, girlfriends can enjoy $5 signature Margaritas at La Casa Restaurant & Bar; private after-hours chocolate tasting (with complimentary wine) and chocolate-making classes at Wine Country Chocolates; spa deals from Camille Skin Care & Day Spa; 2-for-1 tastings at B. R. Cohn Winery and May Family Winery; half-off admission to visit the Asian woodlands and walk the trails of Quarryhill Botanical Gardens; special treats for mentioning the word “Girlfriends” on a Hike & Taste at Kunde Family Estate…and that’s just for starters.
Special events include a fashion show at Kenwood’s Vita Bella, and Secrets of a Savvy Hostess (a three-course lunch/seminar at Estate Restaurant presided over by Sondra Bernstein, Sherri Ferris, Countess of Valencia Victoria Barkan, and Joyce Millet).
For out-of-towners, lodging specials can be found at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, Sonoma Valley Inn, El Pueblo Inn, Greystone Estate in the Vines, Kenwood Cottages, and many others.
